Day One
September 26:
DOORKNOCK: Chapin family learns they have been selected for a green Extreme Home Makeover and are sent to the Disneyland Vacation Club in Florida for a week of fun in the sun. The family’s belongings are packed and moved out of the house.
Day Two
September 27
PRE-CONSTRUCTION: The Team works in compliance with state and federal rules and regulations to remove the lead paint and asbestos from the Chapin home before the demolition process can begin.
Day Three
September 28
DEMOLITION BEGINS! The Chapin home is leveled in preparation for construction of their new green Extreme home. Site work is completed and foundations for the house and garage are begun.
Day Four
September 29
Foundations and the setting of the pool are complete. Framing begins (as does the rain!). The concrete waterfall is constructed.
Day Five
September 30
Framing falls behind schedule due to weather and material shortages. Rough in plumbing, heating and electrical are completed. Windows and roofing are installed and house is dried out while the rain continues outside.
Day Six
October 1
Drywall, siding and interior paint occur. Schedule regains some ground. Exterior concrete and paver work around the pool begin while rain shows no sign of relenting.
Day Seven
October 2
Cabinets and millwork as well as fixtures are installed. Exterior siding happens but exterior paint looks like a challenge due to more wet weather. Landscaping makes major progress with pavers laid and plant materials installed. Fencing and rock walls up around entire property.
Day Eight
October 3
Hardwod flooring and tile throughout entire house laid through the night. Interior trim and fixtures are complete. By early morning house is ready for decorators while exterior touch up is completed. A decision is made to move the reveal ahead to next morning to allow time for furniture placement and since the forecast calls for clear skies.
Day Nine
October 4
Hundreds of people show up for reveal and “Move that Bus”. The Chapin family arrives home at 9:00 AM and sees house for the first time.
